How to connect to your server

Obtain your credentials

The first step is to ensure that you have the required credentials for your server. After subscribing to one of our private hosting packages you will receive a zip file with the following credentials:  

  • IP Address
  • Username / Login
  • PEM and PPK key files
  • Application path
  • PhpMyAdmin username and password

Connect to your server via FileZilla

  1. Download FileZilla client from here.
  2. Open FileZilla Settings, SFTP, add the PEM key file and click OK.
  3. Go to File, Site Manager and click New Site.
  4. Type your server's IP address in the Host field.
  5. Go to Protocol and select SFTP.
  6. Go to Logon Type and select Ask for Password.
  7. Type your server's Username in User filed.
  8. ‍Click Connect and OK to the popup windows.
  9. Type your Application Path in Remote Site field and press Enter.

 

Connect with an SSH Client using an SSH Key

Linux and Mac OS X come bundled with SSH clients by default. In order to log in to your server, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the terminal on your local operating  system (for example, using “Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal” in Mac OS X or the Dash in Ubuntu).
  2. Set the permissions for your private key file (.pem) to 600 using ‍‍this command:
    chmod 600 <PEM file directory>
  3. Connect to the server using this command:
    ssh -i <PEM file directory> <Username>@<IP Address>

Connect to PhpMyAdmin

  1. Open the terminal on your local operating  system (e.g. Terminal in Mac OS X or the Dash in Ubuntu).
  2. Set the permissions for your private key file (.pem) to 600 using ‍‍this command:  
    chmod 600 <PEM file directory>
  3. Execute this command:
    ssh -N -L 8888:127.0.0.1:80 <Username>@<IP Address> -i <PEM file directory> <Username>@<IP Address>
  4. Open a browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:8888/phpmyadmin/index.php
  5. Enter your PhpMyAdmin username and password
